Eddie Murphy’s Law

Remember when Eddie Murphy was funny?  He had recurring characters on SNL like Velvet Jones, starred in R-rated comedy films, and offended a lot of people with his raunchy stand-up act…probably a combination of the material & his leather outfits.  Then something mysterious happened, and everything that could go wrong with his career did.  He quit doing stand-up, his movie choices during the mid-90s were questionable at best (Vampire in Brooklyn, seriously?!?), and in 1997 he was busted for picking up a lady of the night – who turned out to actually be a man.  Now he is known for childrens’ movies like The Adventures of Pluto Nash, Shrek I-III, Daddy Day Care, and Meet Dave.  So what is the root cause of this well-documented downfall?

While my research is still in the early stages, some evidence recently came to light that will only strengthen my hypothesis – I’m looking at you Jacko:
