District 9

I saw a trailer for the new sci-fi film District 9 for the first time last night, and I’m kind of on the fence as to whether or not it will be worth watching.  On one hand the film was produced by Peter Jackson, who is best known for his work on The Lord of the Rings trilogy – which is good.  But let’s not forget that Jackson also did a remake of King Kong – which sucked Donkey Kong schlong for three excruciating hours.  I also generally like sci-fi films - in principle - but I have seen enough to know that a majority of them fall far short of expectations.  District 9 is due to hit theaters nationwide on August 14th; so I’ll have to wait until then to see if it’s the next Predator, or worse than Battlefield Earth – if that’s possible.
