Hater Hall of Fame: Chef BeAngree
Today’s Hater Hall of Fame inductee is a hard-nosed chef who can cook and cuss with the best of them. He is one of only three chefs to hold three Michelin Stars at one time, and he’s got a mouth that would make Richard Pryor blush.

Gordon James Ramsay, Born: November 8, 1966
Gordon Ramsay was raised in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, and described his childhood as “hopelessly itinerant” – which is English for he moved around a lot. His mother was a nurse, and his father tried his hand at a variety of trades (welder, shopkeeper, swimming pool manager, and a country singer to name a few). Ramsay described his father as an “abusive, hard-drinking womanizer”, which was the main reason that he left home at age sixteen and moved to Banbury, England. He exceled as a soccer player at a young age, and even played professionally for the Glasgow Rangers for a short time. His playing career was cut short by a serious knee injury, so he decided to enroll at a local culinary college and become a chef.
After completing his training and working at several different places, Ramsay was given his first job as a head chef in 1993. Soon after, he was contacted by a former mentor who offered him a head chef position and partial ownership in the Rossmore. The restaurant experienced great success, but Ramsay’s desire to run his own business led to him leave in 1997. A year later he opened up his first business, Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road, and his cooking empire began to expand rapidly. Over the next decade he would open up 10 different restaurants across the globe, and become one of the most well-known chefs in the world.
Gordon’s first TV credit was in a 1998 documentary titled Boiling Point, and in 2001 he won an award given by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts for his appearance on a show called Faking It. A few years later, he was given top billing on two British TV series, Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares & Hell’s Kitchen. His desire for perfection (and brazen, unorthodox style) made him an instant star, and caught the attention of some TV executives across the pond. The U.S. version of Hell’s Kitchen debuted in May of 2005, and is currently in its sixth season on the FOX network. Let’s welcome this surly chef to the Hater Hall of Fame by taking a look at some of his best moments:
