Porter’s Pants on the Ground

I never really thought I would post anything on the blog that was once featured on American Idol, but it’s hard to deny the appeal that General Larry Platt’s viral hit “Pants on the Ground” has generated in the past week – and deservedly so. There’s no doubt that he has both a valid point and a catchy ass hook, but Platt’s background story is even more amazing than his freestyle. He was a prominent crusader for the civil rights movement in the 1960′s, marched with pioneers like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Hosea Williams, and even has his own holiday in Atlanta, GA honoring all of his great contributions to the city. Well, it looks like he can now add “Internet Sensation” to his long list of accomplishments; obviously this is a minor deal when compared to his exploits for racial equality, but DJ Steve Porter doesn’t create remixes for just anybody either:
