Due Date

Both the title and plot synopsis for director Todd Philips’ (Old School, The Hangover) upcoming film Due Date have all the makings of another cookie cutter chick flick that unlucky spouses and boyfriends are required to see on opening weekend.  A father to be (Robert Downey Jr.) is forced to catch a ride with an aspiring actor (Zach Galifianikis) in order to make it to the hospital in time for the birth of his child, and an unlikely friendship ensues.  I will still go on record as saying there will not be a dry eye in the house when it hits theaters in November; but the tears will be a result of uncontrollable laughter, and not some sappy cliche involving a nerdy girl with glasses turning into a bombshell, or four haggard whores who are unlucky in love.
