In Februray of 1998, TBS Superstation began running a series of short films dubbed “Monkey-ed Movies.” These 90 second promos parodied popular films and TV shows that ran on TBS at that time; but as the name implies, the original actors were replaced by costumed chimpanzees and orangutans.  Writers Tom Stern and Tim Burns produced over forty of these spots, but here are just a few of my favorites.

Many people may recognize Louisiana’s Chris Thomas King from his role as Tommy Johnson in the Coen brother’s classic O Brother, Where Art Thou? But King is also an accomplished blues musician who has sold over 10 million albums in the U.S., and is considered to be a pioneer of rap/blues fusion.  He is the founder of a music label called 21st Century Blues Records, and owns his own publishing company, Young Blues Rebel.
