I remember when Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1987; I spent countless hours with my eyes glued to the screen, and my sweaty, Cheeto stained hands clutching the NES’s ergonomically designed controller. As a matter of fact, I still have the calluses on my thumbs to remind me of the unhealthy obsession I had with the game - well they’re either from that, or the result of another unhealthy obsession that arose when I was about thirteen. It became apparent that the game also made a lasting impression on other old school gamers after watching this video by a group known as ”The Adventures Duane and BrandO”. These guys used to produce (they have now gone their separate ways) hip-hop songs that paid tribute to the golden age of gaming. This particular track is about everyone’s favorite pink sweatsuit wearin’ warrior - the immortal Little Mac. Not only does this bring back good memories, it also happens to be one of the better rap songs I have heard in a while (Language NSFW).

Can someone please tell me what in the Yosemite Sam hell has happened to rap music? As I’ve said before, I used to be a huge fan of rap in the early 90′s; during that time, the music not only had a nasty beat, it also contained lyrics that conveyed some type of message – they weren’t positive a majority of the time mind you, but there were messages nonetheless. I have watched this genre steadily erode over the last decade, and to be honest, I didn’t think things could get much worse in the rap industry - human parakeets have sold millions of albums, songs have lyrics that sound like ghetto nursery rhymes, and choreographed dance routines that would make The Fly Girls proud. But, I also would have NEVER thought I would see the day when someone wrote a rap song about emoticons and Internet shorthand – but it appears that new low has been reached with the help of Trey Songz, Gucci Mane, and Mr. Crank Dat Superman himself, Soulja Boy. Their new collaboration is called “LOL ”, and it is probably the downfall of rap as we know it.

I stongly advise against listening to the whole song, as it may result in permanent brain damage:
