There are a lot of networks these days that feature past episodes of their most popular TV shows online, but few of them will let lowly bloggers like myself embed these videos on their sites for mass consumption. This is not the case when it comes to Current TV, a media company created by former Vice President Al Gore and a businessman by the name of Joel Hyatt. It makes sense that the the self-proclaimed inventor of the Internet would break new ground in the viral media arena; but on the flip side, common sense and logic is not something that you would normally associate with political figures – past or present - either. In any event, it is now possible to embed full episodes of Current TV’s most popular shows on any site – which includes my favorite program, SuperNews! Even though I have posted a few clips from this news parody show before, what kind of lazy faux writer would I be if I didn’t take advantage of an opportunity to infringe on someone else’s copyright without fear of repercussions? I fully realize that most people today have the attention span of a 2 year-old on Prozac, and that the chances of you watching this whole 22 minute episode is probably just a pipe dream. So to offer a choice to everyone, you can either sit back and enjoy SuperNews‘s latest episode, “Douchebag Powers Activate!”, or go watch that 30 second clip of the orangutan drinking his own Sun Drop for the 10,000th time:

Remaking old movies or TV shows is one of the latest trends to hit Hollywood, because why should someone rack their brain for new, creative ideas when you can just add a few CGI bells and whistles to some old shit, present it as something new, and rake in money hand over fist? While a majority of the remakes that come out should have been left on the cutting room’s bathroom floor, a select few actually turn out to be better than the originals. The adventures of Douchey-Doo provides a new take on one of the most popular and recognizable cartoons in the history of American pop culture; for most people, it’s a tall order to both revamp and improve upon a classic - but somehow the creators of this new series pulled it off with flying colors. That is why I gotta give this new animated parody two fist pumps up:

While I don’t consider myself to be affiliated with any certain political party, it’s definitely harder for me to identify with the Republican talking heads that I hear on a daily basis - whether they’re on Capitol Hill, or polluting the TV/radio airwaves. This is not to say that Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, or U.S. Pacifists are any better, but I would consider any of them the lesser (and usually younger) of two evils. One of the undeniable truths that I took away from the 8 years under Dubya is that there are few things Republicans love more than some good, old-fashioned fear mongering – another was that you can get elected to your 2nd term as President of the United States even if you go “full retard“. This mode of not thinking was bad enough during the Republican run, but their political fearscape switched into high gear when Big Bad Barack Obama moved on up to that deluxe Oval Office in the sky. I have no problem with people thinking Obama has done nothing of note with the power he’s been given so far, and I would somewhat agree with that assessment; but when I hear things like 1 in 3 NJ conservatives think he may be the anti-christ, and people drawing comparisons to Hitler, it makes me think that there may be greater powers of suggestion at work. Well, the people at SuperNews have now confirmed that suspicion in one of their most recent videos. Move over H1N1, because Fearus Ignoramia is sure to be the hottest epidemic since the Salem Witchcraft Trials.

So I was recently presented with an opportunity to revisit Las Vegas, and stay at a pricey condo in the Palms free of charge. While this is very tempting and almost too good to pass up, I am still having some serious reservations about going back. It would be nice to go and enjoy the town without stepping foot on a casino floor, but that’s kind of like going to a strip club and watching ESPN on their TV all night. I would consider myself an impulsive gambler at best, but Las Vegas has a way of changing people for the worse – and this often happens without you even realizing it. Instead of trying to explain this local phenomenon, I’ll let the crew at SuperNews break it down for you.

The folks at SuperNews keep churning out great skits for their show on Current TV; first it was their videos about the “Twittersphere”, and now they delve into a conflict that arises in cubicles worldwide. If you have ever worked in an office setting, it’s a common occurrence for trivial problems to be discussed via email. It’s also common for defensive co-workers to perceive this communication as a direct attack on them - in some cases they are right. A personal rebuttal is then composed by said co-worker to clear them of any wrongdoing, and offer their two cents on the issue at hand. To the casual observer this exchange looks polite and civil; but beneath the superficial emoticons lies a no-holds-barred clash for office supremacy…and job security.
